A Handful of Appliances You’ll Want for Your New Home

By Meghan Belnap

When you build a new home, you need to fill the home with the appropriate appliances. The right appliances ensure that you will remain comfortable and operate efficiently – two important factors to enjoying your new home. Learn about a handful of appliances you’ll want for your new home.

Water Heater
A major part of your home will be how you get water throughout it, whether it’s for dishwashing, laundry or bathing. Traditionally, a water heater includes a water storage tank that holds hot water until needed. The tank inevitably experiences standby heat loss, forcing the unit to work overtime to keep the water at the desired temperature. Furthermore, when the water in the tank dissipates, family members must wait the recovery time before they can get hot water again.

Some more modern homes now use tankless water heaters that operate more efficiently and can quickly produce hot water. These units are generally smaller, and can function with greater energy efficiency.  The main drawback, however, is that if you have many sources pulling from the heater, it won’t be able to heat water quickly enough to meet heavy demand.

While an important decision to make, it’s valuable to take the time to consider your needs and what will work best for you and your family. When you’re ready, scheduling your hot water heater installation is a breeze and will help complete the process of construction.

HVAC System
Your HVAC system has the task of controlling the temperature throughout your entire house. Most units heat the entire house at once, using ducts to transport the temperature-controlled air. Dust and debris will also travel with the air through the ducts, but this style is the most common due to its efficiency and convenience. However, they’re not the only option available

Ductless systems improve indoor air quality, reducing health hazards. Split systems also give you the opportunity to heat and cool sections of your home instead of your whole home, keeping energy costs down. Lastly, if your home is small enough, you may even consider going for a small, in-window AC and space heaters instead, as, depending on the amount of time you spend in any given place, extremely localized heating and cooling may be more cost effective. Regardless of what you decide, it’s crucial to have some way to heat your home in the winter, so some form of HVAC system is essential for your home.

Kitchen Appliances
For many homeowners, the kitchen is the center of family gatherings. Make the kitchen comfortable with matching, modern appliances. Your stove, fridge, microwave, and the coffee machine should contribute to the interior design with matching finishes and hardware. Matte black and stainless steel finishes are common options for modern designs, while bronze and nickel fit into a classic design aesthetic. Take a look at appliance sets based on how much space you have and how much space you’ll need for storing food and cooking. With a little searching, you can find the perfect fit for your kitchen.

Set yourself up for success in the beginning with a high-end vacuum that can properly clean all of the floors in your home. The vacuum should have multiple attachments that allow you to clean skylights, ceilings, and hard-to-reach corners just as easily as the main floors. A good vacuum should also offer upholstery cleaning options to help you clean carpet and furniture. Getting the right vacuum for the flooring in your home can be a challenge, but with a little research, you’ll be cleaning up messes in no time.

When furnishing a new home, take the time to pick your appliances carefully; you’ll be grateful that you did.
