Two female hikers were found dead at the Valley of Fire State Park this afternoon, according to Nevada State Police.
A group of hikers saw the women enter the trails during morning hours. The group was not with the women but became concerned when they noticed the women had not finished the trail.
Nevada State Police located one of the females deceased on the trail. The Metro Police Search & Rescue Unit located the second woman deceased in a canyon.
The investigation by Nevada State Police is ongoing. The cause of death will later be released.
Southern Nevada remains in an excessive heat warning with a high of 114 degrees today measured at Harry Reid International Airport. There have been seven heat-related deaths in Clark County as of July 13, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.
