Mark Davis 'excited' to have Tom Brady joining Raiders as minority owner

Reports today had Tom Brady finalizing his deal to hold a minority ownership stake in the Raiders. Following the deal, Mark Davis spoke on it, confirming those reports.

“We have come to an agreement for Tom Brady to become a partner in the Raiders and we have submitted it to the NFL for approval,” Davis told ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. “We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders and it’s exciting because he will be just the third player in the history of the National Football League to become an owner.”

The previous two former players to join ownership were George Halas (Chicago Bears) and Jerry Richardson (Carolina Panthers).

All that remains now to make it official is NFL approval, and there’s no reason to believe this would be a stumbling block.

Not for nothing, it’s crazy enough to see the Raiders coaching and front office taken over by former Patriots, now the guy at the forefront of it will be a part owner. Bet you never would’ve predicted this 20 years ago would you?
