August 7, 2023: The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is expected to be inaugurated between January 15 and January 14, 2024, says media reports citing highly placed sources. While the preparation for the inauguration ceremony will start on January 15, an inauguration date will be fixed only after a confirmation from prime minister Narendra Modi. The trust overseeing the construction work of the temple has already sent an invitation to the prime minister to attend the inauguration ceremony.
The Pranpratistha (consecration) ceremony of Ram Lalla in the temple is likely to be held January 21-24 next year, reports added.
“We have been told that auspicious time will start from January 14 and ‘shubh mahurat’ is anytime between January 15 to 24. As the Pranpratistha pooja takes days, the pooja will start from January 14 and the prime minister will confirm his availability for the final day,” a member of the trust told The Hindu.
Earlier, the government-appointed trust tasked with building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya said that it had employed 1,600 workers to make sure the first floor of the building is complete before its slated opening in January 2024. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra also said that in place of an 18-hour work shift, it has switched to a 24/7 work shift to meet the construction timeline.
So far, over 50,000 people visit the Ayodhya Ram Mandir every day. This number is expected to increase to 100,000 once the temple is inaugurated.
